Introduction to Fashion Design. Students will be introduced to basic principles of fashion design. They will develop and draw the fundamental fashion figure and learn how to apply basic design principles by sketching fashion designs. Students will learn basic garment details and silhouettes by studying and analyzing garment specifications. (Materials not provided. No text book required). The Basics of Sewing. The Basics of Sewing introduces students to fundamental hand and machine sewing skills. Includes construction processes, assembly procedures, selection of trimming and notions, fabrics and fabric cutting. (Materials provided). Introduction to Apparel Design. This course introduces students to basic draping techniques, sewing techniques, and industry procedures for pattern making. Students will acquire draping skills to produce patterns for properly fitted garments. This course includes lecture and lab components. Introduction to Fashion Illustration. Students will learn basic drawing skills, color theory, line and shape, shading, perspective, negative space and texture.
